NMC’s close relationship with the Go For Gold Programme stretches over eight years, and was developed by Shaun Webber, NMC CEO, and officials from the Safe Schools Programme and the Western Cape Education Department. It has since developed into a Section 22 Company enjoying the support of all the major players in the industry, and is run by a board of directors from various industries.

The Go For Gold programme focuses on upskilling Grade 11 & 12 learners from previously disadvantaged schools with extra lessons in mathematics, science and life skills.

Funds are raised through fund raising events which are well supported by many construction industry leaders, who not only contribute with generous donations, but are also actively involved with learner sponsorships and in-service training.

Go For Gold is undoubtedly one of NMC’s most treasured CSI initiatives, as it targets critical areas, i.e. people development, education and training management which are all areas that are key to NMC’s growth strategy.
