Women in Construction

For the NMC Group continual investment in the sustainable development of critical skills within the construction and civils sector, empowerment and stimulation of entrepreneurship within historically disadvantaged communities is a priority. Over the years it has shown a strong commitment to transformation, gender equality, training and skills transfer.

NMC has pledged its support to the CIDB Women in Construction programme, by sponsoring the 2009 Women in Construction Excellence Awards held on 10 December 2009. These awards give recognition to women contractors for outstanding performance in construction contracts and business.

Through the NMC Business School NMC has awarded the runners up in the categories for Women Contractors in CIDB Grades 1-3 and Grades 4-6 with bursaries for the CrediTag Passport Programme valued at R28 000 each. These bursaries are coupled with training mentorship provided by NMC Training Manager, Anna Boonzaier.

The 2009 bursary recipients, Ms Deidre Pfeiffer – Franschoek Access Control & Steelworks and Ms Marlene Coetzee, qualify to attend the 11 core modules of the CrediTag programme, each designed with a strong focus on building industry related management skills, stimulating innovative thinking, professional business practices, customer care and OHS.
