As an employer of choice the NMC Construction Group recognises that a safe working environment, effective recruitment, development and reward strategies contribute measurably to its competitiveness and overall success. Through its well managed performance management system and meaningful involvement of its current leaders, skills and leadership development opportunities are identified and developed through the following systems: –

The NMC Business School gives employees access to high impact one day courses, designed towards unleashing competitive thought and leadership. The business school further facilitaes enterprise development in the areas in which the group operates.

The NMC’s Next programme, an accelerated leadership development programme, is structured towards unlocking NMC’s full potential through its young leaders.

The NMC Mentorship Programme boosts BEE management transformation, in an effort to fast track the demographic profile of the company at senior level. Twelve candidates, selected by the board of directors, have the opportunity to be individually mentored by a director. The programme however does not limit, compromise or stop opportunities for any other employees and each candidate’s career advancement remains subject to his/her overall performance.

The NMC Construction Master Programme is a skills development and mentoring initiative. Carpenters, selected on merit, are assigned to a leading hand/mentor for a two period, during which time they are exposed to the responsibilities and leadership requirements of a supervisory position with their progress being formally monitored.

The group’s support of experiential training has received numerous awards from both NMMU and CPUT, and continues to bridge the skills gap by actively developing carpenters through the Learnership Programme.
